The street names in Ekenäs tell about village life in the past and how the townspeople got their livelihoods. The streets have been in the same place since the 16th century. Hattmakaregatan (Hatmaker Street), Linvävaregatan (Linnen weaver Street), Handskmakaregatan (Glovemaker Street), Garvaregatan (Tanner Street) and Smedsgatan (Blacksmith Street) tell us that Ekenäs was inhabited by skilled craftsmen.
