Mannerheim Knights Hans Wind and Tor Lindblad

Memorial of the Mannerheim Knights Hans Wind and Tor Lindblad in Våghusparken.

These memorials were unveiled on June 4th 2001, the birthday of Baron Marshall Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, leader of the Finnish government forces during civil war of 1918, Commander-in-Chief of the Finnish defence forces during World War 2, Regent of Finland (1918-1919), and the sixth President of Finland (1944-1946). In 2001 was also the 50th anniversary of Mannerheim’s death. Hans Wind received The Mannerheim Cross of Liberty, Finland’s highest military decoration, twice. His memorial plaque is on the yellow house next to the Fisktorget (old fish market). Tor Lindblad also received the Mannerheim Cross of Liberty. His plaque is located at Södra Strandgatan 12.
